Marijuana is Not Addicting?

There are many of arguments that marijuana should be legal because it isn't addicting nor does it have the side effects as harder drugs or legalized vices such as alcohol or cigarettes. Domestic violence, motor vehicle tragedies and a slew of bad decisions are all things that alcohol serves as the centerpiece of. Lowered self-esteem, loss of reason when committing crimes such as theft and prostitution are all things that are the centerpiece of harder drug usage. However, marijuana is always shown as humorous, harmless and healing.

Other than the evasion of taxation is the reason that marijuana is illegal but at the same time it is not harmless, humorous or healing. As a matter of fact it is just as harmful and we won't deny the addictive properties of marijuana that you're not told on the regular.

What you don't hear is how many job opportunities are lost, how many careers are ruined and how many lives are put in danger to purchase marijuana.

In my first argument we are going to compare this argument to food. For all of you living in the Continental United States will know that some of the best food is served at restaurants that are across the tracks in the not so safe part of town. This actually causes a majority of what would be customers not want to take the risk to enjoy the cuisine of the West Side. Some people are spooked by soliciting derelicts, offended by the attire of prostitutes and questionable about the sterilization of the environment where their food is prepared in.

With marijuana this good judgment goes out the window. People will risk going to the not so established parts of town not only putting their lives in danger but also jeopardize their lively hoods by risking their future ability to legally drive after law enforcement could potentially find an illegal substance in their vehicles.

Most habitual smokers of marijuana only lean on the fact that it doesn't spark violence in their lives but will deny that they have a chemical dependency. Such a strong one that they will put themselves and their livelihoods in danger to obtain the sensation of 'God's Herb.'

Keep in mind that there are a lot of violent crime related transactions of marijuana from robbery to murder.

If marijuana didn't have addicting properties then why are there so many people with such a chemical dependency on it? Where the side effects may not be fatal there are a lot of people who can't bring themselves to clean their own houses or tend to their relationships or marriages but will find the time to spark up some grass and enter a world where none of those things matter.

If some people could just take it or leave it then there wouldn't be a need for synthetic urine or cleansing teas that are a high dollar market within itself. Marijuana addicts would just put down the reefer and focus on landing a good job and maintaining it if it is a job where random drug screening is involved.

Marijuana users for the most would argue that just because they use marijuana that they are not addicted to it and that point is as valid as an occasional drinker stating that alcohol is not addictive. There isn't much talk of the women who would rather smoke a joint versus keeping custody of their kids nor there isn't much talk about how many kids ruined their education over a good time with marijuana.

Making marijuana legal would prevent such things from happening however to say that it is not addicting is a lie. Every vice harbors addicts and people become addicts for different reasons. Anytime a use of any vice is to cope with the real world then the user is an addict plain and simple. A reefer user reaches for their bong at the end of a hard day just as an alcoholic would reach for his bottle. Please use responsibly.
